There’s a dirty face in the water There’s a broken wing in the sky And there’s a big dark hole where the pain pours in But don’t you cry Let it go, let it go It’s alright Just let it go let it go If a single kiss is too many And a thousand isn’t nearly enough Well, are you ready? Are you steady, on your own two feet? Well it’s alright Let it go, let it go Disconnect from desire Let it go, let it go

Coming Home 03:19
Been round this world so many times I’d plain forgotten what I do this for So many towns, so many cities jam the path that leads me to your door Exotic places, smiling faces, limos, lights all tell me I’m the star I slay the crowds night after night but all I think about is where you are On stage tonight, the grand finale of a dream I’ve worked a lifetime for The curtain call, the last crescendo, final encore of 12-month war The darkening theatre - the fading booms of glitterbombs and smoke alarms The Colonel shakes my hand & signs my redeployment back into your arms I’m coming home I’m coming home I’m coming home I’m coming home To You My Dear Some of the guys they think I’m mad to still be dancing when the music stops They’ll realise why I’ll be moving in a new groove when the penny drops In my DMs, my BPMs oh girl you know we’re counting 6 & 9 (nice) Unlock the door, put out the cat, lay back, relax, we’ll dip it triple time (thrice) I’m coming home I’m coming home I’m coming home I’m coming home To You My Dear

Well I can climb the highest mountain And I can swim the deepest see But I’m so tired of being a man I’m so tired of being a man And I can wrestle an asteroid Catch comets in my teeth But I’m so tired of being a man I’m so tired of being a man Oh all the lilies smell so sweet tonight I would just love to take one home locked in a vault of rusting chainmail a poisoned chalice in my hand oh I’m so tired of being a man I’m so tired of being a man I can bite the heads off Hydra Slay all the Dragons in the land But I’m so tired of being a man And when these villains start to run me down My little secret’s coming out I wanna drink the Jesus soda I wanna suck the devil’s tale oh I’m so tired of being a man I’m so tired of being a man uh There’s no peace of mind when you’re laying in state Take off the crown kid, before it’s too late I’m just so tired of being a man I’m just so tired of being a man

Lonely nights Waiting Busy heart breaking Might as well break some more Lonely nights Waiting Busy heartbreaking Might as well break some more And the penitent tears are all dressed up it’s a miracle we’re not more messed up somehow we missed the moment once again And in the very next scene she rollerskates through the merry-go-round of altered states Disarm yourself You ain’t the bomb no more Lonely nights Waiting Busy heart breaking Might as well break some more Lonely nights Waiting Busy heartbreaking Might as well break some more In the endless dreams of broken clocks beware the hour the music stops And anonymous man he’s taken shocks but he’s bored of me, he’s had his lot So should the minister call and beg for time who knows what just what we leave behind so long so long Take me where I stand Take me where I lie Nail me to the sand Toss me to the sky Crush my little bag of bones And drive them home Take me where I stand Take me where I lie Nail me to the sand Toss me to the sky Crush my little bag of bones And drive them home Lonely nights Waiting Busy heart Breaking Might as well Break them all

My Apple 05:36
Somebody has taken a bite of my Apple I don’t know who Tell me the truth now Was it you? Somebody has taken a ride on my bicycle I don’t know who Tell me the truth now Was it you? Way up in the sky the clouds seem phoney My, myself & I, we’re wandering lonely Sifting through our favourites scenes from Stardust dreams of old And way down in the dirt the ants move holy Twisting to their work song ‘closers only’ Stacking up the golden grains that sooth their painted souls Beep Beep Our love is so cheap The markets they’re going under Buy now! you should have somehow realised Well it’s no wonder when you’re Building walls round waterfalls for fools Somebody has taken a bite of my Apple I don’t know who Gimme some truth now Was it you, you, you? Tell me, was it you? … Tell me, was it you? Are you the person to blame? Is everything in my life that’s going wrong…is it your fault? Or is it the politicians? Is it the businessmen? Is it the markets? Is it the cost of living crisis? Is it the climate crisis? Is it infectious diseases? Is it privatisation? Is it unrealistic expectation? Is it you? Maybe it’s me…

Descending 06:13
Silver circles kiss the street where raindrops greet the ground As memories of long walks home feel their way up through cracks in the sound Maybe you never cared about the world where you come from? Maybe you never felt like it’s a world where you belong? Broken shards of promise scatter crowds of hangers on And enemies of industry must resist every call to move on Maybe you never cared about the world where you come from? Maybe you never felt like it’s a world where you belong? Shadows strobe through neon hallways, fizzing with each pulse As relic rooms reverbate to the shake of our penultimate waltz Maybe you never cared about the world where you come from? Maybe you never felt like it’s a world where you belong?

Well we’ve been lovers since we met I’m yours Sincerely No regrets So glad to meet you And we’ve been laying on the line What’s that you say? There goes the time You’re telling me, yeah? So as these days turn into nights We’ll just keep drifting away And everything will be alright We’ll just keep drifting away The storm surrounds us as we sleep There’s no way out now we’re in deep Don’t fall to pieces Cos when the gods are on your side Just count your blessings as you ride And mind your business And as these days turn into nights We’ll just keep drifting away And everything will be alright We’ll just keep drifting away In the morning when you come You’ll roll your eyes and I’ll play dumb it’s anaesthesia Nothing that matters can be ours Even these bones, they’re made of stars Scatter the pieces So as these nights turn into days We’ll just keep drifting away And everything will be ok We’ll just keep drifting away

about

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING

"First, forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not. Habit will help you finish and polish your stories. Inspiration won't. Habit is persistence in practice." - Octavia Butler

In the 31 days of the Gregorian month of January, in the year of our jfc 2023, I participated in the challenge known as JAMuary.

In 31 days I produced 31 pieces of music and uploaded a video each day to youtube with some aspect of me performing that brand new piece of music along with some visual context ...in most cases me in my studio with a relevant film clip or scene accompanying on the monitor over my shoulder

the video playlist can be found here;
youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyF7GkdNzuBKLxvv0unaC-7b3YvJVdEoy (don't forget to like & subscribe!)

This album is the sonic distillation of that youtube playlist - the raw music stripped of its visual decoration and - hopefully - recontextualised for the listener away from a screen

Unlike a lot of the content created in JAMuary these recordings are not pure JAMs - or most of them aren't anyway. They are more involved than that - full compositions and arrangements, 10 of them with lyrics & singing

Those of you familiar with the more dance & ambient orientated Body in the Thames output might be surprised at the range but I was working to a new prompt each day from the Brian Eno & Peter Schmidt 'Oblique Strategies' cards and I decided that for the purposes of the exercise and of making the maximum out of getting into good habits I decide to stretch my studio & my skills to the fullest - there's even a completely over-ambitious cover version

Genres are mainly fake anyway

Also included in this full album download is a pdf of extensive liner notes with a track-by-track breakdown as well as a lot of analysis and philosophising about the nature of creativity, commerce & the internet ...as well as a bunch of practical & background information and lots of photos ... it's practically a 33 1/3rd book about the collection and various breakthroughs I made

...I say it 'is' but what I mean is it 'will be' - more details in the pdf itself

Finally... I didn't really know how to price this... it's essentially 31 great demos & an augmented instruction manual. If you think I'm charging too much or too little please message me & let me know

All the tracks are available as individual downloads, so you can browse around & cherry pick

please give feedback if you find it difficult to navigate and I'll see if I can help to make it clearer, like maybe genre tagging each track or something

Hope you enjoy the project & the work, please leave comments here on Bandcamp if you have anything to say or any favourite tracks

x

All the best

Body In The Thames Sweden

There is a gate beyond the gate of Death,
Beyond the gate of everlasting Life,
Beyond the gates of Heaven and Hell
Whereon but to believe is horror !
Whereon to meditate engendereth
Even in deathless spirits such as I
A tumult in the breath,
A chilling of the inexhaustible blood
